Liebherr Diagnostics

Liebherr Error Codes

Unlike many premium refrigerators, Liebherr units display E-codes and temperature alarms. E0, E1 and E2 point to sensor faults, while an alarm often flags a condition you can resolve yourself.

Codes Versus Alarms

Liebherr refrigeration communicates in two ways. A temperature or door alarm warns you of a condition, a door left ajar, a compartment that has drifted warm, that may or may not be a fault. An E-code, by contrast, points to a specific component, most often a temperature sensor. Telling the two apart is the first step: an alarm asks you to check something, while a returning E-code usually means a part has failed.

The E-Codes Are Sensor Faults

On most Liebherr units, the E0, E1 and E2 codes indicate a temperature-sensor fault, with the number distinguishing which sensor or zone is affected. The sensor is a resistance probe the control reads to manage cooling, and when it or its wiring fails, the control posts the code and may run the compartment incorrectly. The exact assignment varies by model, so confirm against your manual, but a persistent E-code on a Liebherr almost always means a sensor needs replacing, a standard OEM repair.

What to Do First

For an E-code, note which code and which compartment, and book a diagnosis, since there is no user reset for a failed sensor. For a temperature alarm, first check the ordinary causes: a door not fully closed, a large warm load just added, or a condenser that needs cleaning. If the alarm clears once those are addressed, it was a warning. If it returns with the door sealed and the condenser clean, it points to a fan, sensor or defrost fault, which we cover in the temperature-alarm guide.

E-Code or Repeating Alarm?

A persistent E-code or an alarm that returns after the basic checks needs a diagnosis. See our Liebherr repair page.

The Bottom Line

Liebherr E0, E1 and E2 are sensor faults that need diagnosis, while temperature and door alarms are warnings to check the door, load and condenser first. Confirm the code against your model, address the ordinary causes of an alarm, and treat a persistent code or alarm as a serviceable fault.

FAQ

What Do E0, E1 and E2 Mean on a Liebherr Refrigerator?
They indicate a temperature-sensor fault, with the number distinguishing which sensor or zone is affected. The exact assignment varies by model, so check your manual, but a persistent E-code almost always means a sensor needs replacing.
Is a Liebherr Temperature Alarm a Fault?
Not always. It warns that a compartment has drifted warm, which can be a door left ajar, a large warm load, or a dirty condenser. If it clears after those checks it was a warning; if it returns with the door sealed and condenser clean, it needs a diagnosis.
Can I Reset a Liebherr E-Code Myself?
No. There is no user reset for a failed sensor. Note which code and compartment are shown and book a diagnosis, since the sensor or its wiring needs to be tested and replaced.
